Ditching the quick city break and re-embracing the two-week holiday instead.

This idea being put forward by travel professionals as a way to reduce the carbon produced by flying. The maths is simple, turn three long weekends in Barcelona, Vienna and Rome into one two-week holiday to Catalonia and you’ve already cut your emissions by two thirds. But what will this mean for Africa? Is four nights in South Africa really worth the carbon footprint of 24 hours in the air round-trip from the UK?
